I propose that Coke Zero can bring new meaning to the sports mantra "BE THE BALL."

INTRODUCING THE GROUND-COKE-ZERO-BALL CAM.

What would you see if you were the ball arcing through the air from the 3-point line, or being dribbled upcourt on a fast beak... What does it feel like to swish through the net, or be dunked?

I would use state of the art technology to install/place a video camera on the basketball used during game play itself that would broadcast a signal that could be watched on TV and on the screens at the stadiums. (Maybe even in 3D?) We've all seen movies and sports events - any sport with a ball - where we watch the ball on its journey through the air or ont he ground from scant inches away, but never from the perspective of the ball.

I think ball-cam could be a experience for NCAA fans. The ultimate would be that pit of the stomach drop like during an Imax movie when you go off a cliff or fly in a jet.

The RubberNeck Cam

A CZ programmer/producer assembles the best clips into a montage called the ‘Coca-Cola Zero RubberNeck Cam.’ It airs on the jumbotron during a timeout toward the end of the game. Similar to the ‘Kiss Cam,’ except funny.

+: Following the montage, a particularly overzealous fan is deemed ‘CZ’s Ultimate RubberNecker’ and given the opportunity to clarify that he/she merely wanted a CZ. For their “honesty,” a CZ is awarded to him/her and to each fan in their row.

++: It’s 2010. If Coca-Cola Zero can replicate the great taste of Coca-Cola with zero calories, shouldn’t basketball fans have something that can keep their eyes focused on the game? Introducing Coca-Cola Zero’s ‘Zero-In Glasses’ (see image); given to the Ultimate RubberNecker to wear for the remainder of the game.

At Home/Mobile; The montage could also air as a commercial on the television or the interwebs. If so, the distinction of Ultimate RubberNecker would be decided by fans voting online or by text. Every fan who votes is sent a pair of ‘Zero-In Glasses’ so they can watch future NCAA games free from peripheral distractions.

Post Game; CZ hosts a show on the interwebs where the host satirically breaks-down each RubberNeckers’ motivations in a segment that poses the question: is this fan scoping out a ‘Ten or Zero?’

Local; Through this mass-distribution, ‘Zero-In Glasses’ can become a fixture at fans’ tailgates and parties. At these venues, fans can wear them to make possible what was previously thought impossible. Like added concentration during Beverage Pong.

Auto POP Window of Live Game of your teams.

Currently you can go online and pull up a game but... so much better for it just to Appear a a few minutes before the game for you!.

The fan would register with Coke Zero and list their favorite teams. Whenever one of these teams is playing then the Coke Zero/NCAA window would pop up automatically a few minutes before game time with the live game video. Subtitles would be nice in case you can't play the audio. Additional features could be to flash the border of the window whenever their team scored.

NCAA ideas from University of Miami student

Idea #1: Country-wide drinking game

What college student or college sport lover doesn’t appreciate a good drinking game now and then?  Before the NCAA game begins, a reactor signal will be announced on TV and at the game itself.  This signal should be a motion (for example a fist pump) from a certain fan at the game.  The fan will be made aware of this.  Throughout the game, in the bottom corner of the screen there will be a constant camera view of this person.  Every time he does the motion, the country drinks.

Idea #2: Fulfill your coaching dreams

Gone are the days of screaming at your TV screen and finally the time has come to satisfy your long awaited desires to perform the halftime locker room speech.  Fans now have the chance to upload videos of what they would say if they were the coach of a NCAA team.  Fans from home will upload videos online that will randomly chosen and played on national television.  Fans at the game can participate as well by going to a pre-arranged microphone and video set and recording their own locker room pep talk.

Idea #3: Lend a hand, get a date

Although there is something to be said for helping with an agenda free heart, why shouldn’t do-gooders get a little something in return?  At halftime the players will be auctioning themselves out in honor of their favorite charity (which will be spotlighted by a short explanation/video).   Game attendees and viewers at home will have one minute to win a date (that could range from a basketball boot camp to a romantic dinner) with a NCAA player.  Winners will need to provide their own transportation but the date itself will be paid for.

Fans will be able to get together in a crowd and experience the feeling of being inside the stadium. The screens will become the thing to do for the fans that couldn't get into or go to the game. During the game, the jumbotron will cut to the fans at the "final four screens" and vice a versa.

Fans in different cities across the country who have a webcam will also be able to show their support on the jumbotron, by recording their experience and sending it in.

March Madness is already one of the most intense sporting competitions. But what would make it even better? Student sections!!! Real Fans!!

As a member of a school student body, it is often inconvenient to travel to the tournament games with your team. Not to mention expensive on any college budget. But that is one of the best parts about college basketball. Each school should get at least 100-200 students to travel for free to the tournament games. It would add a huge element of rivalry and competition to the games. Each school could hold tryouts for the craziest fans, so that only the best (or worst in this case) and loudest (or obnoxious) would represent their school. It would boost support for the school, NCAA, and March Madness in more than just a few areas.

After all, what's basketball without hecklers?!

They should position a camera at floor level at both ends of the court to capture this same thing. I bet with the adrenaline and fast-pace nature of the game, some guys are going to have insane verticals. Then after each big dunk, they can show the diagram and picture of how high each one was on the jumbotron, and on TV.

Basket Cam

You know that camera that they show pictures from right behind the rim? They should have those highlights ready to be shown during the game. All I ever see is still shots from that angle, but I would love to get video footage and highlights from that vantage point. Dunks would be so much better.
